TWD (THE WALKING DEAD)
The Walking Dead is an American post-apocalyptic horror television series for AMC based on the comic book series by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard. The series features a large ensemble cast as survivors of a zombie apocalypse, trying to stay alive under near-constant threat of attacks from the mindless zombies, colloquially known as "walkers". However, with the fall of humanity, these survivors also face conflict from other living survivors who have formed groups and communities with their own sets of laws and morals, often leading to hostile conflict between the human communities.
TWD has been airing on AMC for 10 seasons, during which I’ve known many other film folks in the southeast who have worked on the show, but it wasn’t until 2020 that I was hired to set design season 11!
During the first week of the show, the COVID pandemic was just starting to shut everything down. I traveled to Senoia, GA to the Walking Dead Studios, surveyed the backlot, and started designing. On Friday (the 13th), we shut down the office and I traveled home, but continued to design “The Commonwealth” backlot set over Zoom with the Production Designer, Art Director and Show Creators from home in Chicago.
Season 11 premiered on August 22nd, 2021. I’m very proud to have been a part of the show and of everyone’s hard work. Union Station looks great!
